Our Mission + Values

AxV Beauty is a non-toxic skincare and wellness brand run by Asata Evans, CEO, and Victus Rose, VP of Product Development. Our products are gentle on acne-prone skin and are created to enhance your natural glow. AxV Beauty was created out of my personal struggle with adult acne. Although it is a visible health struggle, I spent years feeling isolated and insecure about my acne. The stress of COVID-19 and the loss of my job wreaked havoc on my skin and I desperately needed a gentle product that would soothe, calm, and hydrate my irritated and inflamed skin. Through conversation with Vic, we were able to create natural skincare products that soothe inflammation and irritation while hydrating dry skin.

Like many other people suffering from acne, we are often over-prescribed harsh chemicals that can ultimately cause more harm than good. It was important that we created a product that was non-toxic and gentle on acne-prone skin specifically. Although our products are great for all, we intentionally created a platform for Black acne-prone adults to feel comfortable in their skin and with their journey. Acne has no age limit and there truly is no cure. However, through my own journey, I hope to show that we can still feel confident and beautiful in our skin despite the occasional acne breakout. 

Why Natural Skincare?

Natural skincare is one of the fastest growing segments within the beauty industry. As people are becoming more environmentally and socially conscious, there has been a shift towards higher consumption for non-toxic, clean beauty products. There has also been a huge growth in the consumption of skincare products by Black women. The global skincare market has increased nearly 60% in the last decade, and is projected to be worth $183 billion by 2025. Of this, Black women in the United States spend an estimated $465 million on skincare with a growth of skincare products 14 times more than makeup.

There is no denying the buying power of Black women across the beauty industry. Moreover, there is no denying the amount of small Black owned businesses that cater specifically to Black women's beauty needs. However, there is a lack of funding invested in small Black owned beauty businesses that supports our visibility and growth in the industry.
 

Our Best Selling Product

Our best selling skincare product, the Essential Face Oil, has been featured in Buzzfeed and the Huffington Post as one of the best products for a simplified skincare routine. It's a hand infused daily face oil that soothes, calms, and hydrates acne-prone and irritated skin. It is a multi-purpose face oil with jojoba, argan, tea tree, and vitamin e oils that can be used as the last step in one’s routine or as a makeup primer. It’s lightweight, non-comedogenic, and gentle on acne-prone skin.

Why Support Us?

There are obvious barriers for women, especially those of color, to raise funds to support our business growth. As of 2019, 50% of all women owned businesses are owned by women of color and generate roughly $422.5 billion in revenue. However, out of the almost $90 Billion raised in VC funding, women of color owned businesses receive less than 1%. As a growing e-commerce business, paid marketing is going to be instrumental in our growth and longevity. 

Since launch in September 2020, we’ve been very intentional about organically creating a highly engaged community of skincare enthusiasts. Our business is starting to gain traction and we’ve been featured in Buzzfeed and the Huffington Post. We are steadily growing and have already achieved 350+ orders, 15k+ unique website visitors, 1k+ followers on Instagram, and upcoming partnerships with other Black owned small businesses. However, we understand the importance of paid advertisement and the impact it has on increasing brand awareness and website traffic.
