Free Mind Campaign: Sharing the Stories of Black Women Throughout The Diaspora to Free the Minds of All People.
Help us to launch our writers community and produce our first film on anxiety, depression, and colorism.
Project Description
Chántelle Adanna Publishing is an online global literary space that helps black women heal, write, and publish their stories timely, authentically, and on a budget! With expertise in the art of storytelling, our proven methods uncover the stories of black women, who disproportionately represent less than 6% of the literary industry. We amplify their voices beyond selflessness and emotional commitments.
Literature shapes culture, and its industry is valued at 17.5 billion dollars. Black women make up 74% of book purchases nationwide and are likelier to read a book in any format. Yet, less than 6% are represented in the literary industry (writing, authors, publishing, editing), compared to 73% of white women.
We're bridging the gap due to:
Lack of black women’s stories being published.
Lack of authenticity in the black women's stories that are published.
Lack of stewardship through the mental and emotional process of writing.
We exist for aspiring black women writers throughout the diaspora who are ideating, writing, and looking to publish their literature. There are nearly 3 million here in the US and 46.8 million globally and counting.
We address the gatekeeping in the literary industry by:
Meticulously pinpointing black women writers in the early stages of the process to help them write well and craft stories that crossover the publishing hurdle.
Providing custom guides, exercises, and in-house rubrics to ensure their stories are told with the author's intent while giving them custom feedback.
Providing coaching in the initial stages that supports them through the emotional and mental process of writing.
I'm raising $75,000 for Chantelle Adanna Publishing to create its first short film and collective anthology highlighting the experiences of members of our growing community who are personally affected by colorism. We're also building out our first cohort of 100 people to add to our team in the form of editors, tech + marketing strategists, coaches, and of course mentees seeking coaching in the early stages of their writing + self-publishing journey!
One of my favorite rewards is the 'Patron of Words Package' because you get to share your story in the anthology I'm crafting as well as a signed physical copy with a personal thank you video from some of the featured writers. From $60 to a couple thousand, any amount helps my business expand closer to our goal. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping Chantelle Adanna Publishing grow into a successful business that promotes creativity, vulnerability, and fearlessness globally!
