C. Jonez Nutrition Consulting Services, LLC (DBA, Food Jonezi) is a health and wellness practice that provides personalized nutrition counseling services, including nutrition education workshops and healthy cooking classes to the Washington DC community. The company has a qualified team of registered dietitians and chefs dedicated to providing affordable nutrition care and services to all DC residents, especially disadvantage communities.
In the most recent report by DC Health Matters, more than six percent of DC adults have diabetes. Underprivileged communities such as Wards 5, 7, and 8 are more than double at 12.6%, 13.5% and 20.4%, respectively. These same wards have an alarming rate of cardiovascular diseases correlated to poor nutrition and lifestyle practices. The report also shows that people living in Ward 7 and 8 self-reported having the poorest health compared to other DC wards.
More than half of all adults living in DC are overweight or obese. These rates have steadily climbed to epidemic proportions, with over 72% of Wards 7 and 8 as obese, where residents are predominately African Americans. One in every three African Americans in DC is obese. These statistics clearly show that there is a growing demand for nutrition services and counseling in DC low-income communities.
Food Jonezi is committed to addressing these and other nutrition challenges among DC residents and empowering them to make better food choices while reducing the rates of obesity and chronic health conditions. Through these programs, Food Jonezi has provided personalized nutrition counseling to over 2,500 DC residents, facilitated over 500 nutrition education workshops including cooking classes/demonstration, and participated over 100 community health fairs sponsored by partnering organizations.
Food Jonezi is RAISING 2M to expand its services and purchase a storefront to build a Wellness & Smart Cafe in DC. These funds will also be used to enhance our clients virtual experience nationwide.
Food Jonezi Wellness & Smart Cafe:
The Food Jonezi Wellness & Smart Cafe is a new innovative approach to making healthy foods and nutrition services readily accessible to all DC residents. This wellness and smart cafe will be the first establishment in DC to offer nutrition counseling, workshops, fitness classes, and healthy foods and beverages options in one spot. Here how it works:
The Food Jonezi Wellness & Smart Cafe has two components:
Food Jonezi Smart Cafe: will consist of Smart fridge kiosks stocked with affordable healthy food options and beverages. Consumers can purchase foods and beverages freshly created by Food Jonezi chefs to take on the go or dine in the cafe seating area. All food and drink will meet the dietary needs of individuals with heart health, diabetic-friendly, and plant-based diets.
Food Jonezi Wellness Center: will create a community-focused environment to empower individuals to engage in health and wellness workshops, fitness, and fitness classes. Consumers can speak with a Food Jonezi registered dietitian to address nutrition concerns and learn how to implement daily nutrition practices to improve their eating behaviors.
The Food Jonezi Wellness & Smart Cafe will cater to all individuals, and will be dedicated to celebrating diversity and inclusion, cultures, and alternative lifestyles.
We projected the funding will be spent as followed:
$950,000 will be used to fund purchase a storefront for the Food Jonezi Wellness & Smart cafe in the District of Columbia.

These renovations will include architecture designs and layouts, permits, engineering, remodeling, painting, new furniture (such as seating booths, tables, chairs, fitness equipment), additional offices, a new food prep section with new commercial appliances, LEED lightening throughout the storefront.
$200,000 will be allocated to hire both full-time and part-time registered dietitians, chefs and fitness instructors, and staff to execute the goals and mission of the company.
$50,000 will be used for marketing, branding and public relations to increase the visibility and awareness of the company vision. .

We Want To Say "THANK YOU"
I would like to thank you for your generous donation. Words are not enough to express how thankful we are for your support, and mostly believing in our efforts of providing affordable nutrition services to all individuals, but primarily to disadvantage communities.
Health disparities and a lack of health and food resources are real issues in minority communities. Because of your generosity, we can continue to advocate, reduce nutrition and health barriers, and provide affordable nutrition services to our clients (being in person or online) to prevent chronic conditions so they can live healthier and stronger.
We thank you again for your donation. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected].
