Flare: A Hub for Women with Autoimmune Illness
Helping women with chronic illness access holistic care and science-backed resources without the overwhelm.

Project Description
Mission
Flare is on a mission to change the way that women experience their journey with chronic illness, by creating a gentle, science-informed, and community-powered platform for those living with autoimmune conditions like endometriosis, interstitistial cystitis (a painful inflammatory bladder condition), and PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome). We aim to make holistic health feel empowering, not overwhelming.
The problem: Autoimmune illness is on the rise
Millions of women suffer from these conditions, and face years of misdiagnosis, dismissal, and treatment plans that ignore the full picture. Current resources are fragmented, scientific information is hard to understand, and holistic approaches often lack credibility. We aim to bridge the gap by curating accessible, evidence-informed insights and connecting users to trusted natural care, all in one place. This is NOT a medical website, but a guide to give women agency and direction.
Market size/opportunity
More than 50 million people in the U.S. live with autoimmune conditions, and about 75% of those are women. Endometriosis alone is now affecting 1 in 7 women. The global femtech and wellness industries are growing rapidly, yet underserved populations like those with chronic illness remain overlooked. Flare is entering a high-impact, high-demand space with a unique voice.
What is our product, and how are we solving this problem?
Flare is a digital platform (starting with a website) that brings together scientific research, holistic theories, and vetted content creators into one user-friendly hub. It simplifies the overwhelm by offering categorized resources (gut health, hormones, birth control, histamine intolerance, etc.) alongside empowering, personal stories.
Why do we need funding, and what are we going to use it for?
We’re seeking funding to build and launch the first version of the Flare website, including:
Web design + development
Conducting research based development with a group of UX designers and researchers, which will involve compensating participants for their time
Research and writing of scientific content
Partnership outreach with creators and health experts
Branding, marketing, and community-building tools
Our team
Flare is led by a Senior UX researcher & designer (myself), and I have curated a group of UX mentees and students coming from various backgrounds in the product market, health and wellness, and education space. With experience in the corporate consulting space, I will lead this team through a end-to-end, research driven experience building this product from the ground up. Other collaborators will include a scientific advisor and holistic health creators for featured content.
And...a HUGE thank you!
To everyone who supports Flare: thank you for believing in better care for women.
This is deeply personal for me. I was once a young woman told I’d have to live with chronic pain for the rest of my life. But through relentless self-advocacy, research, and holistic wellness, I’ve reclaimed a life that is now largely pain-free. That journey—confusing, isolating, and ultimately empowering—is what drives Flare. There are women out there (at least 1 in 7) who have no idea how to start.
Your support isn’t just funding a website. You’re funding hope, clarity, and community for those who have been told for too long that their pain is something they just have to live with. You’re helping build a space where women can feel seen, supported, and informed.

The Campaign FAQs
Q: What is Flare?
Flare is a digital platform designed to support women with chronic illness through holistic, science-informed resources. Our first version will focus on curated articles, guides, and tools to help make healing feel less overwhelming.
Q: Where will the money go?
Funds will go toward building the Flare website, paying contributors and researchers for high-quality content, and compensating interviewees who share their lived experiences. We’re prioritizing ethical, inclusive, and accessible development from day one.
Q: When will the platform launch?
We aim to launch the beta version of the website by March, 2026 with core content and features available to early supporters first.
Q: Will I get access to the content?
Yes! Certain tiers include early access to the website and exclusive digital content such as guides, tools, and behind-the-scenes updates.
Q: Is this a replacement for medical care?
No. Flare does not replace your doctor, diagnosis, or treatment. We’re here to provide holistic support and information alongside professional medical care — not in place of it.
Q: What happens if the goal isn’t reached?
IFundWomen uses a flexible funding model, so all contributions still go toward building Flare — whether or not we reach the full goal. Every dollar matters.
Q: How else can I support Flare?
Even if you can’t contribute financially, sharing this campaign, following along, or just cheering us on means everything. This project is for all of us.
