The Problem 

     The city of Detroit has long been dominated by greasy foods, burgers and fries served by fast-food restaurants. There has been countless research over the years, that prove how the regular consumption of these foods affects our health negatively. From heart diseases to cancer, depression, diabetes, and other chronic diseases foods high in cholesterol is to blame for 50 percent of their prevalence. We live in a time where everything and everyone is on the go, a fast-paced world with technologies and innovations to match, and so our world today requires fast-paced businesses too. Fast food restaurants rake in millions of dollars yearly, some of them have laid foundations of exploitation in low-income communities by providing fast cheap food with no regard for the health of the people in those communities. The problem now has become the availability of alternatives to these fast-food restaurants and greasy foods that plague the city. The problem is not the desire to eat healthy, because this new generation is more open to wellness and healthy living, the issue is setting out to do it or having the time to make that healthy meal. The communities in Detroit are packed with ‘on the go’ people, families, youths, athletes, shift workers going swiftly through life, they are the ones who frequent fast-food restaurants because it matches their lifestyle. This is where my company comes in, we are bringing in healthy alternatives to high salt fried foods, with our healthy fresh blend smoothies and freshly made chicken or steak wraps with no preservatives. This service will be rendered ‘on the go’ to match the lifestyle of the target communities.

What is the market Opportunity

      A feasibility study and market survey conducted during the process of developing this business identified the target beneficiaries for our services. The entire Detroit area. Families, shift workers, athletes, commuters, vegetarians, and the everyday 9-5 working-class community. These people are open to healthy food options and try to incorporate them into their lifestyles, but the stress of their daily life barely permits it. Healthy eating has been a goal left unachieved on many lists in Detroit communities because of the problem of access. Everyone knows fruits and vegetables are healthy and provide nutrients but not everyone gets around to integrating them into their diet. The problem of access is the opportunity being seized by my company with the smoothie and wrap restaurant.

What is your company product about and how does it solve the problem?

     Greasy foods contribute massively to our body cholesterol level, and this is what is more available to the people in Detroit. My company provides healthier fast-food alternatives; nutritious smoothies made with whole foods like fruits, vegetables, yogurt, and healthy fats. Smoothies that are high in protein and fiber are more filling and satisfying, in essence, they aid and promote weight loss by keeping their consumers full and decreasing the urge to eat more. Healthy wraps filled with chicken or steak, fresh veggies, and beans with no preservatives are packed with all the nutrients necessary to build an immune system strong enough to fight and stand against chronic diseases. The problem of obesity and high cholesterol in Detroit caused by overconsumption of greasy fast foods can be solved with the availability of healthy alternatives to bring a balance. My company will offer a lifestyle observant, affordable, and similarly pleasing healthy food options to the people of Detroit.
