What is Curly Prints?

Curly Prints is an apparel company that celebrates natural curly hair. We want to provide our community with a physical reminder that they can wear that celebrates their natural beauty and allows them to take pride in their hair.

Why focus on natural curly hair as an apparel brand?

Natural curly hair is not a part of the standard of beauty in society. Wearing your natural hair in public or even in the office is often looked down upon. It's hard and sometimes awkward to explain to some people about what is curly hair and why is it important and beautiful.

How Big is the Natural Hair Movement?

The natural hair industry is a large, growing sector. According to a Market Analysis Report, "The global natural hair care product market size was valued at USD 8.74 billion in 2019 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.7% from 2020 to 2027".

Even though this growth is important for the companies as well as the consumer, men and women with natural hair still face hair discrimination. According to statistics from the CROWN Act, "black women are 80% more likely to change their natural hair to meet social norms or workplace expectations."

Not only is this statistic alarming but also devastating. Our company wants to be a part of changing that statistic by giving people reminders that their natural hair is beautiful regardless of the social norms and standards.

 

What is Curly Prints doing to solve this problem?

Curly Prints solves this problem by providing a solution that:

1. Providing comfortable clothing that you can wear practically anywhere

2. Create a community through our clothing that celebrates and acknowledges the beauty of curly hair

3. Having fun prints that stand out and call attention to the natural curly hair community

 

Why are we seeking funding and how will we spend the funding?

We are raising $15,000 to fund our new collections for 2022 such as our sweatpants and expanding our kids collection. We would also love to expand our marketing efforts so we can raise brand awareness and reach more people in our community around the world.

 

 

 

Who created Curly Prints?

We are two Canadian-Caribbean sisters that understand what the curly hair journey is like. We grew up on perms and relaxers and when we both decided to stray away from the chemicals and embrace our natural hair, we started to grow in our personal development. The journey of self love and acceptance is important and having that reminder on a daily basis helped us in our journey. We want to help others by not only giving them a beautiful printed t-shirt or hoodie, but creating a community and safe space where they know they are celebrated and loved.
