When someone loses their hair due to cancer treatments, alopecia, or other medical conditions, they often lose more than just hair, they lose a part of their identity. The world may see it as a cosmetic issue, but for the people experiencing it, it’s deeply personal. It can erode confidence, silence self-expression, and make healing even harder.

At Divas Culture, we believe that everyone deserves to feel seen, beautiful, and whole, no matter what they’re going through. Our mission is to restore dignity, self-worth, and joy through handcrafted, insurance-compliant cranial prostheses that are as unique as the people who wear them. These are more than wigs, they’re wearable healing.

As a licensed cosmetologist and certified cranial prosthesis specialist, I’ve had the honor of walking with clients through some of the most vulnerable chapters of their lives. I’ve listened to their stories, witnessed their pain, and helped them reclaim pieces of themselves they thought were lost forever. I’ve seen the tears that come when someone looks in the mirror and finally sees themselves again, and sometimes, I cry along with them.

But too often, access to high-quality medical wigs is a luxury only the privileged can afford. Many insurance plans don’t make the process easy. In underserved communities, options are scarce, especially for Black and Brown individuals whose textures and styles are often overlooked or ignored.

That’s the gap we’re here to fill.

The market is growing, millions in the U.S. suffer from medical hair loss every year. But the care system hasn’t kept up. There is a rising need for affordable, accessible, and culturally competent cranial prosthesis solutions, and we’re ready to meet it.

We are seeking $250,000 in funding to expand access to medical-grade cranial prosthesis services and strengthen community impact. These funds will support:

• Securing a dedicated location to serve clients in a professional, welcoming setting

• Stocking a range of ready-to-wear units to meet urgent hair loss needs and reduce wait times

• Expanding in-house production of custom cranial prostheses to increase capacity and personalization

• Building collaborative partnerships with oncology and dermatology providers.

• Mentoring and training beauty professionals to enter this specialized, high-impact field

This funding will allow us to meet the growing demand for high-quality cranial prosthesis services while fostering equity, education, and empowerment for clients facing medical hair loss.
