Create The Door has one goal in mind,an audacious goal, nevertheless its our goal. We will teach women who are returning to the community from jails and prisons how to respond to life successfully, thus lessening the likelihood of them returning to prison or jail. To accomplish our goal we seek the expertise of Ex-offender Change Agents. The founder of the organization/project, Jennifer Henderson has successfully responded to life for over ten years after being released from prison. For seven of those years she has volunteered in the prison system.
We provide coaching to ex-offenders and consulting to organizations on best practices for female ex-offenders. The $10,000.00 will be used to provide direct services to the women returning to the community, daily operations, venue, supplies, and transportation to and from meetings for participants.
Our vision will increase the capacity and functionality of female Marylander’s who were formerly or are presently incarcerated. Maryland is internationally recognized for its incarceration rate. We are changing that. We measure success with Pre & Post Assessments. This feedback is vital as it tells us where to focus. Also, success is measured every 3 months by inquiring of whether or not the participant has re-offended.
