Changing dreadful washdays to fun ShampooTime!

Eliminate self-esteem issues in our communities by fostering self-love and confidence, empowering black children to embrace their natural hair confidently, while providing the tools needed to simplify hair care routines. Because of society’s perception that straight hair is beautiful, and natural hair is not, 1 in 2 Black children experience hair discrimination as early as five years old and impactig them a lifetime. To make matters worse, washdays can be long and painful. Parents are living this never-ending cycle of washing, detangling, while their child is kicking and screaming, and waters flying everywhere. 

With ShampooTime, we’re making hair care fun and stress-free for everyone by developing innovative products that cater to the unique needs of kinky curly hair. Our specially designed patented Shampoo Mat turns any sink into a comfortable shampoo bowl – making washdays a breeze. No peep, No sounds, No fussing around! 

In addition to the Shampoo Mat, our patented BeadBox will significantly decrease the length of time it takes to add beads to any hairstyle. Currently beads are purchased in bead packs, and you have to add them to the threader one by one. Our BeadBox comes preloaded with beads in different colors and different color combinations. Simply insert the threader and pull it out fully threaded with beads in one quick motion. Turning a 45-minute task into something that can be done in under a minute. Its our sustainable solution to plastic beads waste. Beads can also be stored in the BeadBox, after easily removing them from the hair, reducing the amount of beads purchased again and again. 

We launched the BeadBox 2 months ago and have already sold over 500 of them. Our current BeadBox is for medium size beads only but our customers have spoken. They want BeadBoxes in a smaller size and a larger size. 

This campaign is to help purchase the molds for 2 more BeadBox sizes, one for smaller beads and one for larger beads.

As parents often discard hair beads after each use, the demand for new beads leads to excessive production. In fact, millions of hair beads are produced each year, contributing to unnecessary waste. The BeadBox offers a convenient, eco-friendly alternative by allowing parents to store beads neatly and reuse them, reducing the need to constantly purchase new ones. By making bead storage simple and accessible, the BeadBox saves time and helps reduce bead production. Our goal at ShampooTime is to cut the number of hair beads produced by 50% over the next five years, as parents shift from discarding beads to reusing them. This small change can make a big impact, promoting sustainability while ensuring kids’ hair remains stylish and fun!

At ShampooTime, we believe in supporting and uplifting our community, which is why our Shampoo Mats are proudly made locally in Dallas, Texas. As a Black-owned business, we are committed to keeping work within our community, fostering growth, and building meaningful partnerships. We have chosen to collaborate with a family-run Latino business to manufacture our mats, ensuring that the economic impact stays local and helps create opportunities for diverse businesses. By working together, we are not only delivering quality products but also empowering families and strengthening the bonds within our shared community. ShampooTime gives back to our community by donating a portion of our proceeds to a number of organizations. We launch limited time colors to support different causes for example, a portion of proceeds from our red shampoo mat which was launched in February (heart month) was donated to the American Heart Association. Our black Shampoo Mat was a limited color however due to the demand I decided to keep it permanently. Named Black Lives Matter, a portion of proceeds from this mat is donated to a local Dallas organization, Abide Women Health Services, whose mission is to ensure women of color have safe and healthy pregnancies!
