WHO WE ARE
CEREMONIA is a handcrafted lifestyle brand inspired by travel + nature. We've partnered with artisan families to create a thoughtful lifestyle collection. Our pieces are handcrafted in small batches using natural and locally-sourced materials. Our mission is to provide families in underserved regions with dignified income opportunities, while creating an ethical collection that preserves nature, culture, and tradition.
I first visited Bali on a one way trip in 2014 and felt an instant connection to the nature-centric way of life, and the many local families I met. After multiple visits, I made the decision to move to the island in 2017 to dedicate myself to creating CEREMONIA. It's where I've been based the last few years while I developed stronger relationships with all our artisan partners, and collaborated with them to create the collections you now see on our website.
During return trips to my hometown in Los Angeles we've hosted pop-ups and participated at markets where CEREMONIA has garnered a following and community.
After abruptly relocating to LA as a result of the pandemic, I had the down time to properly launch our website in May 2020. With so many spending more time at home, we have found that consumers are choosing to invest in beautiful and unique home decor pieces. Part of what makes our pieces even more special is they are all being handcrafted by loving hands, there is so much meaning behind each piece, and our collection transports our customers to a different space and time. This gives us the opportunity to continue growing our brand even under these circumstances.
While I am happy to have a growing team, I need your help to ensure our growth is sustainable. Our present challenge is continuing to grow our brand visibility with limited resources/bandwidth, while training a new team, and most our regular markets and promotional events having been cancelled. So how do we get to that next step? Well we have some ideas, but first....
CEREMONIA is a 100% self-funded business. I've relied solely on my own savings to fund the company and continue to invest all earnings back into business operations--no bank/family loans, investments, social connections, inheritance/trust funds, etc. In fact, we're a small humble business, and have been using an old family mini van to transport our goods to markets. We are SO GRATEFUL for the old family van that has made this possible, but we've outgrown it. We need a safer, more reliable, and more spacious vehicle for our growing collection--one that we would feel comfortable bringing to a city near you: SF, NY, ATL, MIA!
Our goal is to raise funds to invest in a company cargo van, which will be an invaluable asset and marketing tool for our business. We have our eyes on a Sprinter Van because it's the safest way for us to travel to our markets, and will allow us to expand our services and grow our company offerings.
We are grateful you have read this far, and THANK YOU for supporting our goal, vision, and growth. We understand these are trying times for many. Just know that any contribution that you can make whether it's $5 or $5,000 means THE WORLD TO US, and motivates us to keep going. If you can't contribute monetarily, but still want to help, here are a few FREE ways to help:
