Bunce Bakes Fire Relief Fund

In May of 2024, I launched a home-based Cottage Food Operation, Bunce Bakes, LLC. Bunce Bakes is an allergen-friendly, eco-friendly and organic bakery with the mission to provide healthy baked goods with the cleanest, highest quality ingredients available. Our handmade products are so delicious, you'll love them whether you have dietary restrictions or not. Unfortunately, within less than a year in business, I lost my home, home-based bakery and all of my belongings (business supplies and personal items). Since I wasn't home at the time of the fire, I did not get the chance to evacuate anything. My apartment building was built in 1968, so any of the items that do remain, are covered in toxic ash, asbestos, etc, thus rendering them no longer safe or usable. With a heavy heart, I have to mark my business as a total loss and had to cancel my permit with the LA Health department since my legal baking facility no longer exists. 

 

Bunce Bakes was built to support and provide for the community. Volunteering was a pillar of my business. Every month, I gave baking demos to hospital patients and their families at UCLA's The Tiverton Wellness Hotel. Baking products I wholeheartedly believe in, and supporting my community has always been a deep passion of mine. I made Bunce Bakes possible by concurrently working a full time job and being the sole employee. 

 

While I am devastated by this loss, I still remain hopeful for a bright future. I believe in my product, my mission, and that the best is yet to come. My hope is to receive a grant so I can make up for my losses, certify a new kitchen, and relaunch. 

 

I believe that with the help of IFW Grants, this may be possible.
