Chicago Community Development Grant July 2022 Finalists

 Herbal Accession is a small body care and relaxation brand. We carry all natural products made with home grown herbs for natural healing, body care and relaxation. We are not your average body care and wellness company because we emphasize the importance of using one's own intentions and power to invoke care of our own bodies and mind.

We don't only offer high quality, all natural, sustainable products but we also teach consumers how to be intentional and knowledgeable on the ingredients they introduce to their bodies. We also push the idea that self-care is good care and that indulging in good care is not a luxury but a necessity. Each products' main ingredient is a herb/plant naturally grown from our earth with the underline tone of using power from within to ignite growth and wellness on the out.

Our long-term mission is to open a wellness center in Chicago. Through our wellness center, we plan to hire young adolescents in the community to help facilitate administrative duties for the business (clerk, stock/organize shelves, cook, nurture microgreens/crops, etc. We will also reach out to local organizations, contractors, and talent to facilitate workshops and classes aligned with meditation, self-improvement, yoga, horticulture, etc. 

The Southside of Chicago has been long identified for the increase in violence, lack opportunity, and segregation within its overall community.

I am pursuing a center that represents the strong sense of collaboration, growth, healing, education and opportunity that the south side Chicago community deserves.

We have been a continuous growing and profitable business since starting in late 2020. We have actively raised $150,000 through donations, grants, and funding; We have completed courses in Scaling, finance and marketing and have better equipped our business for the long term. 

By aggressively implementing campaign, marketing and sales strategies to increase cash flow, creatively cutting expenses and identifying key areas of growth to increase sustainability, we are confident that Herbal Accession will continue to grow into a household name.

In order to further scale our business and began full renovations to the wellness center, we need access to additional capital, partnerships with local talent and agencies, the use of better equipment to increase production and quality of goods sold, hiring of marketing staff to increase awareness and sales, and funding for certifications and courses to improve quality of merchandise.

We are asking for a small donation to help jumpstart the process:

• Cost of licensing and fees ($5,500)

• Certification ($2,000)

Our Black and Women led business has made a very big impact within our first year! As we complete our 2nd year in business, we have had the opportunity to:

• Be nominated as 'Lifestyle Company of The Year' x Buy From A Black Woman

• Serve over 2000 customers and growing!

• Serve 40 out of 50 United states

• Selected graduated of the One Million Black Woman-Black in Biz Spring 2022 cohort

• Selected as one of the 79 Finalists for The July 2022 Chicago Development/Recovery Initiative

• One of the 2022 McBride SHECAN Fund Scholarship Recipients
