Brilliant You Denim design, manufacture, and distribute all day comfort, exceptional fit, and unprecedented versatility jeans to accommodate every season of life. Made in Greensboro, NC by the first black female jeans manufacturing company in the USA. Our vision is to help rebuild manufacturing capable in America. 

THE TWO-FOLD PROBLEM

First, outsourcing jobs to other countries affects the US economy.  The main negative effect is it increases US unemployment.  As of January 2020, there were 14.3 million outsourced jobs to other countries.

Second, it is very costly, time consuming, and discouraging to find the right jeans fit that accommodate and flatter our bodies as we move thru different seasons of life.  And, if your budget does not allow you to pay over $100 for a premium pair of jeans, things can get rather frustrating.

OUR SOLUTION

First - our outsourcing solution: One of the most challenging areas of a small business that provides a product is figuring out how to get it made.  Making the decision to build our own jeans brands was one of the toughest decisions made in the early years.  During our evaluation period, we did consider several companies in China that wanted to make our jeans brands. However, as the founder, I have not had an easy life.  I have had to work very hard, be discipline, and drive myself to see beyond obstacles and roadblocks. Embracing this mindset, I set up the company’s manufacturing facility because I believe in the vision of rebuilding manufacturing in America.

Second – our jeans solution: In 2019, the worldwide denim market size was a $128 billion industry; and still growing.  The industry is extremely competitive.  This means that any new brand entering this market must have a very clear advantage over the many competitors.  Our team have pioneered an innovation enhancement concept based upon bodily changes.  Sometimes, these changes can be caused by enjoying a great meal, fatigue after working all day, or monthly cycles for women.  Other times, body changes can occur from certain life experiences such as motherhood, mid-life changes, or health related.

The enhancement innovation is object shaped very stretchy fabric sewn directly into the seams of the jeans where the body typically experience changes. This solution allows the jeans to conform to your unique body changes, which increase comfort and fit throughout the day.  And since the enhancement material is very stretchy, our solution will also accommodate changes associated with life experiences. The truly fun aspect of our solution is that you get to personalize your jeans with the enhancement options and choosing your front pocket inside lining color.

One of the greatest assets a small business have is their unique ideas and innovative methodology to produce their products and/or services.  In the early years, we were faced with a very critical decision of whether to protect our enhancement concept.  We could not find evidence that the concept had been implemented by any other jeans manufacturer.  So we decided to move forward and worked with a patent attorney to submit the application…quite the learning journey.  But, after a long 4-year application process, the USPTO confirmed that the enhancement concept was original and issued the company design patents for our jeans brands.

Our brands incorporate enhancement fabric as following:  a) Classic 2 Style: outer thigh; b) Classic 3 Style: outer thigh and inner thigh/seat; c) Classic 2 Jegging Style: outer thigh and bottom leg; and d) Classic 3 Jegging Style: outer thigh, inner thigh/seat, and bottom leg.

OUR INSPIRATION

Our team is uniquely qualified to deliver on our brand promise. As the founder, I live in jeans. When my body started on the long 10-year journey of frequent body changes, this experience was definitely unpredictable.  The reality of finding a pair of jeans to accommodate this unpredictability became more and more frustrating. And equally discouraging, I could not find any premium custom jeans made in the USA for under $100.

Therefore, utilizing my over 25 years as an Electrical Engineer solving complex design, manufacturing, and technology problems, I started Brilliant You Denim company.  Now, our North Carolina team includes 7 employees performing product development, manufacturing and distribution of our jeans brands.

We have developed a fully integrated Product Development Life-cycle that we utilize as a benchmark to identify areas of improvement. Our highly skilled workforce has had a passion for fashion and sewing since childhood.  We challenge ourselves to stay informed on the most robust techniques and best practices for sewing seams, stitches, constructing folds, overlays, etc. that will add quality and reliability to the end product.  We take great pride and care in producing an American made product on our soil.

WHY CROWDFUNDING

Having the courage to pursue an idea not directly related to my academic training and professional experience have been one of the most challenging endeavors in my life.  On the other hand, it has been one of the most rewarding.  Up to now, I have used my personal savings and money earned as I continue to work as an Engineering contractor. This approach, allowed me to avoid going into debt while I figure out the startup phase, get the manufacturing infrastructure in place, and determine long-term growth strategy for the business.   The company is now ready to scale.

Our team believes that Crowdfunding is the optimum solution in helping to scale and position the company for its next growth stage.  We chose the iFundWomen Crowdfunding platform because of the Team’s dedication in helping women realize their aspirations.

We are raising funds because we believe our patented enhancement concept have the potential to revolutionize not only the denim industry, but also the way clothing in general is designed.  And, as the first black female jeans manufacturer in America, our goal is to be a role model to inspire others to be the change our fellow Americans need to see.   

Funds raised will be used to: 1) automate pattern cutting; 2) purchase raw goods for inventory; 3) purchase additional sewing machines to increase production capacity; 4) hire additional staff; and 5) expand our product offering. The first new offering will be a denim pencil skirt for women that will incorporate the enhancement concept. The new offering will be available before end of March 2021.
