Bridging the Gap for Special Needs Families

I am a Marine Corps Veteran and mom to 7 children, one who is a beautiful 4 year old nonverbal autistic boy. I have lived all over the United States and I've been fortunate enough to see so many different programs for both Veterans and families with autistic children. The differences of what is offered between the two is vast. I knew there was a gap and I was ready to fill it to offer more for families like mine who wanted more inclusive activities and communities. 

We are looking to offer programs for families and individuals on the autism spectrum that will foster a stronger sense of community and belonging. To do this we will be offering various retreats and events that will be geared towards their specific needs. 

Respite care has always played a big part for caregivers but we want to take it a step further and offer respite for the entire family in the form of retreats. We firmly believe that when families can take the time to recharge together, it creates a stronger bond and gives them time to reset while also being able to relax and just enjoy each other without the day to day stresses that come with being a special needs family.

For events we will be offering sensory friendly outings, rented venues, and fun online classes that cater to the autism community.

For parents that need care for their special needs children, we will provide a catalog of caregivers that have specific experience with special needs children. 

There are roughly 1 in 44 children diagnosed with autism, which is an unsurmountable number of families that need services and support. Our goal is to make this a nationwide organization that will reach as many families as possible.

Funding is needed to kickstart these events so we can get the word out about what we offer and expand to more areas. I appreciate you taking the time to learn more about my campaign. Thank you for helping us bridge the gap.
