Botanical Essence Natural Skincare

Botanical Essence Natural Skincare is a skincare brand dedicated to using only natural ingredients to curate and create all-natural skincare products. Botanical Essence Natural Skincare produces skincare items from cleansers to moisturizers, all working to nourish and promote healthier skin. My goal is to celebrate both the earth and its gifts, as well as our skin, providing our consumers with high quality products that offer peace of mind, a unique take on skincare, and a satisfying experience. Botanical Essence Natural Skincare creates safe skincare products for all, working to eliminate racial disadvantages in skin care and skincare products towards POC. Our products not only smell and look good, but they also make you feel good, helping to improve the mind and body, starting with the soap.

With limited resources and options for all-natural skincare products, Botanical Essence Natural Skincare works to include effective high-quality, affordable, all-natural skincare products, which are free from synthetic and artificial fragrances, dyes or filler chemicals, in today's market, with a current estimated value at $7 billion.

 I am currently seeking funding to:

1. Expand my business from a primarily online-based business to a physical location within the city of Detroit, serving both local and national customers.
2. Acquire proper equipment for effective and efficient product manufacturing.
3. Allocate additional funds toward marketing and advertising efforts to increase brand awareness and sales.

I am currently a one-woman team, taking care of all the ins and outs for my business, including supply procurement, product manufacturing and packaging, shipping, online brand presence (content creation and follower interactions), website management, and more.

More about the Founder:

Born in Detroit, MI, I always had dreams of being a healer. From elementary school until enrolling in grad school at Wayne State University in 2017, my answer to the question “What do you want to be when you grow up” was “I want to be a doctor.” It wasn’t until I finally acquired a career in the medical field that I realized that was far from what I wanted. After giving birth to my firstborn in 2016, I was unable to find products to help my postpartum acne. Many of the products I used either left me with unresolved results or worsened my condition. After growing tired of spending money on broken promises, I researched remedies for my skin and began to create my own products. After getting satisfactory results using all-natural ingredients, I utilized family and friends to test my products. While creating these products, I realized I wasn’t suffering alone. Being a black girl growing up in the city of Detroit, Michigan, too often I was exposed to the inequalities that I faced. Within the skincare industry, many of the top brands were very expensive and were advertised for use by individuals unlike me. However, those products that were meant for my community were either cheaply made and watered down or riddled with chemicals that did more harm than good. Being a black woman from the city of Detroit, Michigan, this same issue remains today, noticing many skincare products aren’t made for myself and those within my community. From advertising to ingredients to prices, often, our skin is not being considered. That is when I understood my purpose for creating affordable, high quality, all-natural products was no longer about serving myself, but also those within my community.
