Bags with Budgets is an interactive workshop created for women to increase financial literacy through education, mentorship, and sisterhood
Project Description
- The mission of Bags with Budgets is to increase financial literacy among women of color by equipping women with tools and resources on how to manage their finances.
- Out of a survey of 51 women of color in Durham, nearly 70% did not have a financial adviser or consultant. Providing workshops like Bags with Budgets allow women to receive real, hands-on advice and guidance that they may have never received.
- Bags with Budgets will target a goal to reach at least 50 women of color between the ages of 22 and 37 in Durham, NC.

Aisha Cotton, Creative Director - As an event planner, I understand the cost of events, food and beverage, presenter fees, the venue, and setting the atmosphere for attendees. I am seeking funds to cover the remaining venue fee, food and beverage for the event - breakfast buffet, and presenter fees and travel expenses. My goal is to keep event cost down as low as possible to completely free so that every woman can attend Bags with Budgets without worrying about the cost.
- Cup of Tea Events features a team of one creative director and a volunteer team of family and friends!
