The Art of Hair
Need funding to start protective hair styling school. Filling a void in the cosmetology industry.
Project Description
In 2019 I began teaching youth in a secured facility how to do protective styling and create a business doing hair. Covid stopped the courses for the youth. In November 2020 I started online protective style courses for all. With little money for the wig kits needs to provide to participants, I created instructional and resource books for the courses. Protective styling such as wigs, weaves, and braiding is not taught in cosmetology school. Yet creating wigs and installing extensions are some of the latest trend hairstyles. Since these styles are most commonly worn experienced, professional protective stylist should teach people the proper ways and processes to do these styles. Since these styles are meant to protect hair it is imperative to teach the importance of protecting the natural hair while creating a style that can be worn for weeks, months or years. Teaching natural haircare and protective styling fills a void in the cosmetology industry and allows all to learn extention installation, wig making, weaving, and braiding. Funding will help with school certification/licensing. Hopefully I can recieve enough funds to rent a building to educate from, so I can help youth again, as well as all interested. Funding will also help with inventory for wig kits and marketing.
