Who am I??

I’m Jae Smith and I love people. I love my people, I love your people, I love all people. I was made this way, and I thank God everyday for staying with me throughout this journey. I’ve been in education for the past 15 years and recently was lead to a new platform.

I’ve always considered myself an advocate for teenagers and young adults, because that’s who I’ve been in most communication with for almost 2 decades, and they often lacked the voice to stand up for themselves.  Working in "poverty-stricken" schools, has allowed me to observe the need of the faces that carry the same shades as mine. My time in education has been filled with lessons, awareness, empathy, and knowledge. All of which, motivated me to create a brand that will resonate love throughout all households.

Glo'N Up is the act of exuding CONFIDENCE, POSITIVITY, and CREATIVITY in your daily life. 

After working in education for over 15 years, I've had the opportunity to cross the path of many young black girls in need of reassurance, guidance, and most importantly, love. There are so many broken, young, black females walking around in search of something that they don't even necessarily know the definition of. Love is a needed aspect of our life. No matter what we try to use to distract us from that need, love is a fundamental need of a healthy, fulfilling life. Often times, when that love isn't found at home, people spend their life questioning, searching, and trying to replace the love that wasn't received as a child.  As a black female, growing up with a pieced together definition of love, I know first hand how much love is needed throughout the black community at an alarming rate. 

Glo'N Up Publications strives to aid in the growth and development of the black mind, by empowering them through written knowledge, wisdom, and experience. 

Our Journey

We all have a story, and we are all on a journey. It's just some stories have more turbulent chapters, than other stories. But our journey's are so much lighter, when we know and understand that we aren't alone. 

The World tears Us down, 24/7, 365… WE, the Community, need to make sure we Love, Protect, Nurture, Hug, Educate, Teach, Guide, inspire, motivate…. We have to pour into Our babies. All of Them. We have to be the 'Village Needed to Grow' our babies and build them to withstand it ALL.

Our purpose is our purpose. And when we try to stir from that purpose, God turns us back the right way and allows us the time to regroup, refocus, and rebrand. We just have to listen. God directed this path, and I'm listening. I know the love that is needed. I know the EXTRA-ORDINARY presence in the black community. 

This is only the beginning. 

Our Goals

We are all glo’n up daily.

There’s just a lot of things that are sent our way that often dim our glo’.

Currently, we have a Glo' Up Box on the market. It's a subscription service that provides a little Glo' Up through the mail. Each box is customized to  fit the subscriber and their glo' up needs. There is a questionnaire that will be sent by email, to all new subscribers. They will provide details about them or the intended receiver of the Glo' Up box.  

In draft, we have a Glo'N Up Daily Planner that will provide motivation, inspiration, and organization to aid in the Glo' Up of the black female. I have completed a rough draft, and with the raised capital, I plan to pay someone to transfer the rough draft to Adobe InDesign. 

The first edition of "Glo'N Up and Grownin' Up", a collaborative book project that features short stories from at least 20 different black woman throughout the community. This is the first edition of many to come, with openly, candid stories of growth, struggle, resilience, and love. I believe through the wisdom of our elders, we are able to lighten our load on the journeys we are destined to take. This book will provide lesson, laughter, and love. 

Glo'N Up Daily, our website, is meant to be a destination of knowledge for the black community. I hope to grow that website into a daily check-in spot for black women, ages 12-50. This website provide daily tips, guidance, and motivation to make it through the work week. 

Why Crowdfunding??

I need HELP!! As much as I use the pronoun, WE, my team is really only ME. I have a supportive husband, and my two loving, and worrisome kids. But that's where my team ends. Mainly because I don't have to pay them. Everything has been out of pocket, as of now, and my pocket is out of pocket. So I'm reaching out, because this dream is THAT big. 

With the help of this campaign, I hope to gain enough capital to pay for a marketing team, inventory, mailer boxes, a video editor, and many other small intricates that I'm not a professional at. 

I'm a libra and a teacher. So I just believe that I can do anything, naturally. However, God has told me over and over, ask for help. So I'm just listening. That's all I've been trying to do this whole 2020. Listen. God has a plan that is bigger than me, so I'm standing out of the way. 

We have to lift each other up.

We have to love on ourselves, so that we can love on the world.

This glo’ Up is needed.

The Glo’ Up is God given.
