Hey Everyone,
Unfortunately, I will have to move my business out of Dumbo.
I'm disappointed to say that while I've been working hard on this space for the past two years, things are not working out with my management company. The current situation has made it impossible for me to continue operating at this location. The conflict between me and the management company has escalated to the point where I have to be out within 30 days.
This has interfered with large projects and opening a second location in Harlem, because all of my energy has been directed to relocating. I am grateful to have found a new location with a larger space where my vision for Adanne can continue to grow and expand, and where I can thrive as an entrepreneur. In order for me to move forward, I need financial support to make this dream a reality.
I'm reaching out because I'd love your support through this process! Here are a few ways you can help:
1. Donate directly through my IFundWomen campaign (the funds will go towards getting my new space )
2. Share this post/link to friends who are invested in supporting a black woman-owned business
3. Any words of encouragement or suggestions that you think would help me make this a smooth transition.
And if there's anything else you think would help me get through this transition smoothly, please let me know.
With gratitude,
Darlene

The Project: Re-Location
The Brooklyn Bookstore is a larger space with tons of potential for growth. It's got a great location in the heart of Brooklyn, and I get to partner with other businesses like a cafe to help offset the rent cost and bring in new customers.
I am also excited about the possibilities for the outdoor space. It’s a great spot for outdoor seating during warm months, and we can rent it out for special events. This is another stream of revenue that will help us keep growing!
The bookstore has the opportunity to partner with a cafe to bring in more revenue and customers.
The bookstore is in a prime location. I think that partnering with a cafe would be mutually beneficial for both businesses. The cafe would get more exposure from being associated with our store and we would get the benefit of their coffee sales. It would also help us to attract more customers who might not have thought about coming into the bookstore before because they had someplace else they wanted to go for coffee.

Thank you for your support and time.
