Project Description
700 Rivers is a global, ethical, and sustainable self-care brand that creates all-natural soaps handcrafted by artisans who are overcoming oppression. We work with Bangladeshi artisans that have escaped human trafficking and work to help them get a fresh start in life by teaching them new job skills, employing them with fair, living wages, and providing a safe environment where they can work with dignity.
700 Rivers creates all-natural self-care products that are made with high-quality, skin-friendly and eco-friendly ingredients. Our mission is to create high-quality bath and home products that empower women globally with fair, living wages through dignified work, equal opportunities, and a safe work environment.
In Bangladesh, thousands of vulnerable women are trapped within human trafficking and remain stuck because they do not have an education or job skills to fall back on to support themselves. The best way to reduce trafficking is to reduce poverty through meaningful employment and living wages.
And so, 700 Rivers was born to help create that opportunity. Currently, we partner to employ 28 Bangladeshi artisans that have escaped human trafficking and now have dignifed work and guaranteed fair wages handcrafting our natural soaps.
In order to continue to increase our impact, we are working to expand our self-care product line by launching our highest requested items - a natural candle line! Launching this new line will allow us to serve our customers with consciously curated scented candles that can help relieve stress and positively impact mental health, all while ensuring the use of safe ingredients for the home. This will also help 700 Rivers create new work opportunities and hire more global artisans with life-changing jobs.
We are looking to raise $5,000 to help us launch our candle line. Every dollar raised will go directly towards helping us overcome oppression and empower women through employment through dignified work and fair wages.
