Project Description
ATX Women's Sports Pub is on a mission to empower women in Austin, Texas, by providing a dedicated space where female athletes and ALL women’s sports fans can unite. Despite the growing interest, there are zero venues that prioritize and celebrate women’s sports, leaving them with limited recognition and support. That's where we come in.
Austin's vibrant and diverse community presents the perfect opportunity for a women's sports pub, and our establishment will serve as a main stage to address the lack of representation in the industry. At ATX Women's Sports Pub, founders Debra Hallum and Marlene du Plessis envision a welcoming environment where all fans can say cheers to women’s accomplishments over a great meal. We have exciting partnerships in the works and can’t wait to bring you unforgettable experiences with your favorite women’s sports teams and players!
This is where you come in. To turn this vision into reality, we need the help of our amazing community. Your contributions will go towards overhead costs such as securing a location in Central Austin, renovations, furniture, living wages, licenses, and launching. Additionally, your donations will cover renderings of female athletes throughout history that will be displayed around the restaurant, ensuring no one leaves ATX WSP uneducated about women in sports! Eventually, a portion of our profits will be used to support local women’s organizations and help more girls play sports.

- We are searching for a location now.
- Where is it located?
- Location is TBD but in Central Austin, with good parking!
- Will you be partnering with local sports teams and athletes?
- Yes! We already have supportive relationships with many local teams, including Austin Rise FC and Lady Longhorn Athletics.
- Will this be open to all?
- YES! All ages and genders are welcome.
- Will WSP be hosting regular events?
- Yes, we will be hosting events to bring different sports fans together and also would like to serve as the unofficial site where athletes can hold press conferences to talk about their plans and hold interviews. We plan to hold regular events as well, including "Girl Dad' night once a week for dads to bring in their daughters to watch games together.
- Will you show all sports?
- If it's a women's game and it's on TV, we can show it.
- What kind of food will you have?
- We will be a full-service restaurant and are currently working on the menu.
- Will you serve alcohol?
- Yes.
- How will you support the Austin community?
- We intend to focus our efforts on providing female athletes a main stage for their craft. We also intend to donate 10% of our profits to support local Austin non-profits dedicated to helping women and partner with the City of Austin to ensure equitable access to sports for girls. The partnership with the city will include sponsoring girls' teams and inviting their teams to celebrate wins and end-of-seasons with discounted food to celebrate our local girl teams.
