This fundraising campaign is designed to support essential period education. By mobilizing quality resources and community programming, we aim to increase awareness, provide access, and eliminate stigma. 

the problem

While many menstruators report [knowing] what a period is, the majority also report having very little [understanding]. Insufficient access to period products and education has created a world where young menstruators feel:

Bound by shame, stigma, and myths

They can’t make the right decisions for their bodies

[PMSentials] is a unique and modern period program built by women and for women. The program increases period understanding by:

Providing period education resources that empower individuals with knowledge, including health, hygiene, and societal impact

Offering community support and workshops that create a safe space for open discussions and break down the barriers of stigma

Ensuring access to menstrual products and education in communities and working towards systemic change for period equity

For the past 7 years, Power Pump Girls Inc. has been at the forefront of building a community of women and partners who turn excess into access. Through our unconventional platform and comprehensive programs, we have become the leading authority on period talk in our home base, Baton Rouge, and surrounding areas.

what PPG has done

• Launched our signature #secured. initiative with goals to eliminate period poverty and eradicate the stigma associated with menstruation. To date, our organization has donated approximately 400,000 FREE period products to those in need.

• Mobilized our network to push support for Louisiana House Bill 328, bipartisan legislation that successfully passed and made period products and diapers exempt from local sales tax. 

• Created the #OnlyHangWithVoters campaign in partnership with a young professionals org to encourage civic engagement for the Louisiana Gubernatorial election. This election ended with the highest Black voter turnout in state history.

Since the beginning, Power Pump Girls has been able to operate becauseof the collective support of our members! Help us keep building momentum by funding our initiatives.

We've achieved significant impact in our communities, but there's still work to be done. As we scale, we're seeking more partnerships and opportunities to help menstruators in need.   

With improved technology, our period products and education materials can be more readily available to those in need. Supporting this fundraiser means we can bring our resources to schools and online.  

why crowdfunding?

Our organization is founded on the belief that women are better together. As a 501c3 corporation, we explored many different funding options, including private donations and grants, but at the end of the day, those options don't reflect our mission of being built by women for women. 

Power Pump Girls is our life's work and our passion for social impact is not something we'll outgrow. We believe in the power of our community and decided to crowdfund via IFW because they are a female-only platform that gets the job done.
