Project Description

Alice’s Bag Company is different.

We’re a new luxury accessories brand with a difference—20% of the price goes towards the education of girls in developing economies.

We believe that a balanced, compassionate, and successful society needs more women leaders in positions of influence – that’s why, when you buy one of our bags, you’re helping to fund the education of girls in emerging economies through our network of charitable partners. Handily, our logo “Abc.” is also the universal symbol for learning.

One Girl

For launch, we’re proud partners of One Girl whose goal is to educate 1 million African girls through secondary school. They work in some of the toughest environments where almost half of female youths (aged 15 to 24) are illiterate. And the biggest cause of death is pregnancy for girls aged from 16 to 19.

However, an educated girl is also more likely to marry when she’s ready and have a smaller, healthier family. Plus her children are 50% more likely to live past the age of 5 years old. For every year she stays in school her income will increase by 10-25% and further, 90% will be invested back into her family.

Who the heck is Alice?!

Our founder, Alice Rock, is an expert in luxury bags from the school of L.I.F.E.

As a busy executive in the tech industry, and despite being a high performing and well organized human, she would often find her athleisure gear stuffed under the desk (when it was supposed to be at home), rummaging around the bottom of her bag for that god-foresaken travel pass right when she needed it and her stilettos being carried separately in a dust bag! Just because that’s how life is.

During her time at Google, she was able to play a pivotal role in supporting the development of women into senior positions, and girls into the study of STEM subjects. Alice’s driving belief is that every girl in the world should have access to an eduction. This became the founding-thought behind her equal but less lofty desire for the perfect, beautiful and yet practical, range of luxury leather bags. Finally, she decided to study at The London College of Fashion so that you can reap the benefits!

Personalization option

Screen Shot 2017-06-26 at 10.30.16 AMYou can even have your motto hand-written into the lining of your chosen design, inspiring you to live your best and fullest life everyday, while knowing that you’re also helping to give another girl somewhere in the world the same chance in life as you’ve had. In fact, our tote and backpack are designed with professional women in mind, both fit a 13″ macbook or similar sized laptop.

Your sponsorship

We’re doing a crowd-funding campaign to bring this new business to life, forever. Simply choose your reward, you can either order your bag or make a contribution, then sit back and watch the total sponsorship fund grow. At the end of the campaign we’ll release this sponsorship fund to One Girl. Over time, we plan to expand the community angle to include more charities with the same shared goal working across the BRIC region (Brazil, Russian, India and China).

Rest assured that 90% of our donation goes directly to the girls who need your sponsorship. Any contributions will go towards the fulfillment process (we have bronze, silver and gold solutions ready to go!) and enables further product development for a range of cross-body bags in the pipeline.

Additionally, we support orders from anywhere around the world. When you order one of our bags you’ll get FREE global shipping included. Please expect to wait 6-8 weeks to receive your purchase. We’re new to this and your patience is greatly appreciated 🙂

Lastly, a note on pricing

If you’re reading this far, THANK YOU! It’s costly to make a luxury product and the economics become much more challenging when you give away a huge chunk of the profits to an awesome cause. Despite this, we believe in using high quality materials without compromise to give you the best experience possible – because we want you to spread the word and come back for our next range! Plus our bags are designed for professional women and anyone with a busy life. We’re over cheap bags where the handles come away and the hardware chips and suspect you are too. Our bags need to fit into your life and not the other way around. For full transparency, we’re including an example breakdown of costs;

The Parisian (tote) –

Platform and payment fees @ 8% $24
One Girl donation @ 20% $59
Sales tax @7.5% $22
Manufacturing labour $70
Leather $55
Lining $5
Hardware $12
Packaging & shipping $20
Total cost  $267

THANKS for visiting our campaign page! We’re excited to see what we can achieve together.
