The Local Kitchen connects people through food. We have community cooking classes and private events, and we help entrepreneurs launch successful food businesses.
Join us in our campaign to help sponsor a youth to attend our Summer Cooking Camps where they will connect to the local food system and learn basic cooking and nutritional skills that will benefit their mind, bodies and budgets throughout the course of their life.

About Us:
The Local Kitchen is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and offers commercial kitchen rental space to small food businesses. This rental service reduces risk for those who dream of running their own food-based company and act as a connecting agent through our Industry Alliance initiative to other small food business owners to help reduce the risk, build connections and improve the chance of success for small business owners, many of whom happen to be new Canadians and/or women.
At TLK we also offer cooking classes (currently available in live and on-demand video formats) and events. These classes are hosted by local chefs and cover a wide range of topics featuring local ingredients and producers. These classes are great for individuals, special occasions or as corporate team building events.
We strive to improve the community in which we live, work and play. We actively engage with and support local community organizations by donating meals, ingredients, kitchen rentals, chef expertise and more to help alleviate some of the local food security pressures.

ABOUT TLK SUMMER COOKING CAMPS:
Summer time at The Local Kitchen is Youth Cooking Camp time! Young campers ranging in age from 8 - 14 years old can registers for our week-long camps. We partner with knowledgeable, professional experts to host these camps in our bright, clean and welcoming clean commercial kitchen space. Our camps feature high quality, local ingredients and engage the campers in meaningful excursions. These camps teach kids the fundamental life skill of cooking and preparing a meal for themselves. They also includes topics on reducing food waste, increasing food security, learning about where our food comes from, the local historical food relationships and an introduction to nutritional education for keeping their bodies healthy.
SPONSOR A CAMPER:
The cost of running these camps is significant and therefore the registration fee can be a barrier that prevents some interested and aspiring young cooks from attending. We think all kids should be able to have a chance to learn these life skills. Therefore we are engaging our community to help sponsor camp spots for young and deserving members of our community. Our goal is to raise enough funds to send 10 deserving kids to camp this summer. View our rewards packages to see how you can help :)
