10 Years Strong. Still Underfunded. Not Giving Up

10 years underfunded, we still showed up. For over a decade, We've been crafting sensory-rich, wellness-forward spaces designed to nourish the body, mind, and spirit. We've built a location and want to build more. As a chef turned wellness founder, Almaz and the team created brwnbox as a third space for all humans to experience intentional rest, culture, and care—with a focus on supporting communities that rarely get to exhale. We’ve been featured in Essence, Architectural Digest, Rolling Stone and more because what we’re doing is different—and it works.

The Problem

• brwnbox represents critical infrastructure that research shows is essential for sustainable economic advancement. Studies reveal that 75% of Black women entrepreneurs cite "helping community" as key motivation—15.5% higher than average entrepreneurs. By combining wellness programming with entrepreneurial support, brwnbox creates the "leveled ground" where social classes interact more equally, fostering cross- pollination of ideas essential for economic development while addressing the nervous system regulation needs that traditional business support ignores. 

• Herbal Products are sold with limited resources to dedicated education and lifestyle places teaching the responsibility of incorporating them safely into their lifestyle 

• Limited authentic wellness spaces designed for communities of color, compounded by the reality that 74% of Black women business owners operate in just five industries representing only 20% of business revenues overall. 

• Most areas lack culturally responsive wellness programming and entrepreneurial infrastructure, representing massive untapped potential in a market where cross-socioeconomic connections prove more predictive of economic advancement than residential location 
  
   

The Solution 

• Proven Model: Successful Orange location demonstrates experiential wellness concept viability through diverse programming. Hosted hundreds of guests, held wellness activations and offered hospitality services such as herbal products, specialized catering and access to the space for community activations and a private place to work and connect with like-minded individuals. Investors can explore opportunties to expand 
• Community-Centered Design: "Third place" between home and work for wellness exploration, nervous system healing, and spiritual reconnection through culturally responsive modalities. Our space features 2 floors for programming and retail, quiet places to work during the day featuring a tea lounge with kitchen, 2 bathrooms and shower for our community who needs public resources. 
• Successful Partnerships: Partnered with national brands like Jack & Jill, Miss Grass, Fernway, and Curaleaf, Verano, Ascend, This is Jane Project with support from the City of Orange and surrounding areas. 
• Sensory Hospitality Approach: Immersive experiences through curated a retail experience teaching the community how to incorporate products into their lifestyle intentional supper clubs, ceremonial tea services, vibrational sound baths, empowerment workshops, and energy healing sessions in spaces designed for deep restoration 
   

Scholarship Model

For every 5 memberships donated we will give $1000 to 1 studentFor every 5 memberships sponsored, we will donate $1,000 to 1 student attending medical cannabis training programs at local NJ community colleges and universities such as Rowan, Rutgers Law, Stockton, William Paterson and Thomas Edison University

Almaz Adeigbola is a wellness chef with over 10 years experience, community builder, and visionary in the experiential wellness space. Her leadership has grown brwnbox from a solo project to a thriving ecosystem—our team is a beautiful mix of corporate and medical professionals, creatives, mothers, LGBTQ+, professionals ready to serve our community

brwnbox only works if it is truly accessible. That’s why we’re expanding to Somerset—an exciting, central NJ community ready for a fresh take on hospitality and healing. Our second location will feature:

• A dedicated tea café with signature blends and retail 
• Parking lot 
• Over 1,000 sq ft of flexible space for yoga, sound baths, tastings, and more
• A beautiful, Black-owned venue designed for multi-sensory wellness activations
• The new Somerset location will allow us to scale our impact, and generate the revenue needed to continue bringing this to more communities. 

Where the Money Is Going
We’re raising $100,000 to:

• Keep our Orange running smoothly during expansion – $20,000
• Build out and furnish our Somerset location – $50,000
• Hire and train new team members – $20,000

• Cover early operating costs – $10,000
