Hi! My name is Julia Cannon!
I'm a queer first gen American born and raised in Alaska, now based out of Nashville, TN. I’m making a record and I need some help.
Last time I crowdfunded back in 2021, I believe it changed my life. I was able to make music that I would eventually perform with Black Opry at Newport Folk Fest, where we got a write up from the Rolling Stone. We were invited up to sing with MF Alicia Keys when she performed at Ascend Amphitheater!! And I've been able to use that music as a platform to meet and work with so many incredible people. The album that you helped me to produce led to people reaching out to me to let me know that they needed to hear my story to support them through their own journeys. Whenever I doubt the importance of art, I remember how I myself have been able to navigate difficult times with the help of a song or an album. The idea that I can do that for others with your help makes me genuinely want to cry.
It's funny, when my friends crowdfund their projects I am able to tell them how important art is and how they should let people support them if they can and are able, however I tend to tell myself that I need to do as much on my own as possible before asking for help. WELP, here I am.
I’m an independent artist. I work a 55 hours a week as a nanny to cover my needs and support my passion, and I pay for everything out of pocket. That’s where you come in. You all have been so supportive of my art!!!
I'm uncomfortable to open up in this way again but if you're able and willing, it'd be kinda dumb not to, right?
My goal is to raise at least $10,000. I'd be able to pay for studio time, pay the engineers, pay the musicians who will play on the record, pay for mastering of all of the tracks, pay for a little bit of press, maybe a music video. You'll be directly supporting a whole network of musicians and artists by supporting me. I do things pretty DIY as it is, so I can usually be scrappy and make things work, but if we raise more, then I'll be able to do more. Maybe Vinyl??? The donations from last time allowed me to work quickly and efficiently and now that I've got more experience, I am excited to see what we can do this time.
I’ve come up with some incentives and rewards for your contributions to sweeten the pot, but if you just want to contribute and dip, that’s an option as well.
I can not wait to continue to grow more and share more with you.

Absolutely! You are able to select and add multiple rewards to your cart.
I just want to contribute, and not purchase a reward. What do I do?
The first reward listed is Monetary Option. Select this reward, type in the amount you'd like to contribute, and that amount will be added to fund.
I want a certain reward, but I'd like to contribute more than the reward price. What do I do?
Select the reward you would like to purchase, and then select the "Monetary Option" reward and fill in the additional amount you would like to contribute.
What types of payment do you accept?
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, Diners Club, etc. Please let me know if you need an alternate payment method (Like Venmo or Cashapp). We can work something out! My Venmo is @cooliajannon. My Cashapp is $cooliajannon
When will your album be released?
I'm aiming to begin releasing singles in 2026!
Why $10,000?
Making an album requires booking studio time, hiring a producer, engineer, musicians, a mastering engineer. I'll save money by mixing it myself.
After several months of recording and producing the songs, more time and money go into marketing, promotion, distribution, photography, videography, merchandise, and more.
