The Youth Sexpert Program
A non-profit, sex education training program to empower youth, nationwide, to act as experts amongst their peers on all topics sexuality.
Project Description
The YSP is a "sexpert" training program for high school aged youth. The idea would be to empower individuals, nationwide, to act as experts amongst their peers on all topics sexuality. As a sex educator myself, I would bring in experts on various topics to add nuance to what I believe is lifelong work: having a rich and judgement-free understanding of human sexuality.
Unlike other social impact projects around sex education, mine would not necessarily work within the confines of the school day, as meetings between educators and trainees would be held via zoom after school hours. Additionally, trainees would not be required to host classes for their peers, nor would schools themselves necessarily need to be involved. Instead, this would be a social media based initiative, where much marketing would take place on digital platforms, and assets would be provided to youth so they could inform their peers of their status as a "sexpert" and begin to informally take on this role in their communities. This program would also be pleasure focused and radically honest, as opposed to fear driven.

What would funding go towards in the early stages?
Funds will be used to purchase resources (continue our website subscription, be in contact with a legal team, etc.), advertise, ethically hire help and pay educators.
What drove you to this work?
I have been a digital sex educator for the past three years, beginning my freelancer journey during my sophomore year of college. For me, this has meant supplementing the sex education Gen-Z-ers and millennials did not get in their grade schools or communities growing up, by creating online content such as videos and writing articles for various publications. Since beginning my journey I have grown my Instagram to over 13,000 followers, and been featured in Buzzfeed, Marie Claire, and Well+Good. I have also helped various sexual wellness brands with their social media presence. I began this journey at the age of 15, after creating a private Instagram account where I would host conversations about my relationship with my body and my sexuality. I know first and foremost that youth are sexually active, no matter how much they are discouraged. I also know that they turn to their friends and to the internet when they feel like they cannot talk to the adults in their lives. I look forward to creating something that I could have benefitted from at that age.
