The Mujerista is a digital media publication and network dedicated to empowering and celebrating the next generation of Latinas making an impact in our culture.  

The Problem

Currently there are 17.9 million Latinas living in the United States with an increasing 6.7 million in the millennial generation. Latinas are purpose-driven consumers and are seeking to engage with brands and media that speak to our multilingual, ambi-cultural identities, amplify our values,  and utilize their platform for meaningful social causes. 

Today's media landscape, however, is limited and not representative of the millennial Latina generation. They showcase a narrow, singular view of what it means to be a Latina or who is a Latina. The Mujerista gives Latinas of all backgrounds a voice against this backdrop.

How We Are Giving a Voice to Latinas 

Through our media publication and digital network, The Mujerista provides a platform for Latinas to tell our authentic stories and foster connection between one another.

The media publication shares the inspiring narratives of women influencing change in our community and supports their efforts – written for and by Latinas. 

With our digital network, we are creating a safe and inclusive space to advance our professional and personal lives. We are committed to cultivating relationships between our members and offering digital programming designed to help us thrive. 

Our goal is to be a trusted voice and catalyst for the millennial Latina community.

Why We Are Crowdfunding

In the last two in a half years, we have grown to be a recognized platform in the Latina community. There’s an appetite for reading more of our stories, media representation, and support between the diverse and multicultural communities within Latinidad.

To further our mission to empower and celebrate Latinas, we are now raising $10,000 to grow our operations. The Mujerista would bring team members on board to expand our marketing and brand partnership initiatives, further develop our digital programming on our network, and help us grow the publication's editorial division.

Meet Our Founder

Marivette Navarrete has worked in building engaging online communities for brands like Boxycharm and KnitCrate.  After years in these spaces and the 2016 presidential elections, Women's March, and #MeToo movement, Marivette sought out communities that spoke to her experiences as a millennial Latina in the U.S. Through her search, she quickly became aware of the lack of representation and resources for the Latina community. In 2018, she launched The Mujerista and has since been featured in Forbes and recognized by the Knight Foundation.

"When our stories are not visible, we feel invisible, as if our stories don’t matter. When there is storytelling representative of different communities, spaces, people, we come to identify with them and can see what is possible for ourselves. "
