The Problem and Our Solution

Both fashion production and consumer buying have become controversially wasteful since the influx of fast fashion. Besida is providing an alternative that helps sustain the earth by keeping garments in consumer's closets for longer. We're not only focused on the quality of our designs, but intentionally building innovative designs that consumers can wear in different ways. The layer of functionality adds value to the garment, excites customers, encourages a woman to keep her garment longer, and ultimately leads to less waste.

The women's fashion industry is expected to hit $165 billion this year in the U.S alone. It's no secret that many women love to shop, however statistics show women only wear about 20%-30% of their clothes.

Our bestselling garment, The FourMidable, can be worn in at least 4 different ways. Since 2018, thousands of women throughout the world have bought this unique garment mainly for it's multifunctional design.

Funding

We want to add 4 more designs to our "smart fashions" collection this year. This fund will allow us to contract a designer, offer advance training to our team in Nigeria, produce the first batch of the new product and increase our digital marketing budget to reach our target audience.

$5,000: Contract a designer with experience creating multifunctional garments

$20,000: Advanced training and production of initial batch of 150 units/design

$10,000: Digital Marketing And Trade Show budget so we can expand our reach

Our Founder

Sophia Danner-Okotie launched Besida in 2015 after she struggled with trying to find clothing that represented her identity as a Black woman in America. Her work for Besida has been recognized in Essence, Vogue, and most recently in Forbes where she was honored in Forbes' 30 Under 30 list.
